My Story
Iris Garcia, a native of Washington, D.C., began a transformative chapter of her life when she relocated to Houston, Texas, in 2006. In 2009, she experienced a profound spiritual awakening, surrendering her life to Christ Jesus and embracing her divine calling to empower God’s people. Having endured the trauma of sexual abuse at the age of 3, abandonment and suicidal tendencies, Iris came to understand that her pain was not the conclusion of her story but the foundation for a purpose far greater than she ever imagined.
Under the tutelage of Apostle Shon and Pastor Dena Gray at Greater Works Ministries in Houston, Iris stepped boldly into her calling. Over the past 15 years, she has dedicated herself to ministry, with more than 8 of those years as an ordained pastor, thus appointed as a founding member of Greater Works Ministries. Her mission is rooted in advocating and guiding individuals toward healing thus equipping them to embrace their God-given identity and purpose.
Iris’s testimony of resilience and faith serves as a beacon of hope for those navigating the challenges of life. Iris served as the President of the Houston Chapter, of the International Association of Women, and is currently a Founder of Growing and Empowering Myself Spiritually. Through her teachings, mentorship, and empowerment efforts, she has helped countless individuals privately triumph over adversity, discover their potential, and walk confidently in their divine assignments.
Her unwavering dedication to God’s mission is evident in the lives she touches daily. Iris’s journey from brokenness to restoration stands as a powerful testament to the transformative power of faith, obedience, and God’s redemptive love. She remains steadfast in her commitment to uplifting God’s people, ensuring that each person she encounters recognizes their inherent worth and divine purpose.
Iris shares a life filled with love and faith with her husband of 19 years, Edmund Garcia. Together, they are the proud parents of four beautiful daughters: Kyra, Cameron, Ava, and Elle. Their family exemplifies the strength, unity, and devotion that are central to Iris’s ministry and mission.
